The Philippines hosts the Third Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Coordination Committee Meeting on October 21 to 22, 2008 and the Second Senior Officers Meeting on October 23, 2008. The meetings are aimed at formulating the Manila Declaration to adopt the Regional Plan of Action (RPOA). To disseminate the RPOA to the various stakeholders in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, a videoconference will be conducted and webcast live on October 22, 2008, 2PM.

This activity is part of the Local Government Initiative (LGI) efforts through the Global Environmental Facility (GEF)/World Bank (WB) Coral Reef Targeted Research Program. The Program has designated the UP's Marine Science Institute (MSI) as Center of Excellence (CoE) for Southeast Asia (www.gefcoral.org). MSI co-hosts the activity with the Marine Protected Areas Support Network (MSN) which is also coordinated by the MSI.


The live webcast is done in cooperation with DILC, UP Open University, UP Computer Center, UP College Cebu, and UP Mindanao, as MSI's contribution to UP's  Centennial Lectures.
