"An accelerated history of the Universe" - a seminar featuring Daniel Holz, PhD (Theoretical Division, Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico), on Tuesday, 15 June 2010, 1:15 pm, College of Science Auditorium, Velasquez St, UP Diliman. DILC will cover the event.
Abstract
The past two decades have ushered in a revolution in our understanding of the Universe. We now have a simple and beautiful description of our cosmos from a fraction of a second after the big bang to the present day, many billions of years later. We summarize key elements of this model, including the age, shape, and content of the Universe. In addition, we highlight important outstanding questions, and speculate about the future.
